Cricket icon Yuvraj Singh’s father Yograj Singh revealed a shocking criteria he had for his son’s future spouse. In a candid chat with Krishank Atrey, the former actor-cricketer said he had only one advice for his son when it came to choosing a wife: “Change the breed.”
“Now people will not like what I am saying, but I told him, ‘change the breed.’ I told him to go for some Irish or English girl or someone from Australia. And my wish came true. Hazel came and what beautiful children they have!” he said.
He also admitted he did not want his son to marry young as he was at the peak of his career and not ready to take care of a wife. “When he turned 38, I told him, ‘It’s your life, find your partner.’ ”
Yuvraj tied the knot with ‘ Bodyguard’ actress Hazel Keech in 2016. Keech is half British-half Indo-Mauritanian by descent.
Following her marriage, Hazel took on the name Gurbasant Kaur, a title bestowed upon her by Sant Balvinder Singh during the wedding rituals. The couple welcomed their first child, a son named Orion, on 25 January 2022. Their family grew further with the arrival of their daughter, Aura, who was born on 17 July 2023.
