There is a desire for wealth and prosperity in every household, but it is said that all this is incomplete without the consent of the ancestors. In Hinduism, Pitru Paksha is considered special because it is believed that during these 15 days, the ancestors come to earth to bless their descendants. For the peace of their souls, rituals like Shradh, Tarpan, and Brahmin food are performed. There is a mythological belief that the children who remember their ancestors with full devotion and rituals, their house remains full of happiness, prosperity, an increase in children, and good fortune. On the other hand, the ancestors of those who ignore these rules may become unhappy and angry. This is the reason why the tradition of celebrating Pitru Paksha with great discipline and satvik bhaav is still alive.

Mahant Swami Kameshwaranand Vedantacharya explained in detail about the importance and rules of Pitru Paksha. He said that during these days, first of all, one should give up the consumption of garlic and onions. Also, it is necessary to avoid all tamasic substances like meat and alcohol. On the date of ancestors, cook satvik food and offer it to Thakur ji and then feed the Brahmin.
Consume these satvik foods during Shradh.
According to the Mahant, things like gram flour gatta, paneer, potato curry, parwal, urad, or moong dal should be included in satvik food. The tradition of making puri-sabzi and offering it as bhog is also old. Along with providing food, feeding fodder to the mother cow and giving donations to the poor are also considered very virtuous. Those who do not have parents should get the Mundan Sanskar done on the date of their ancestors and offer sesame, barley, and water to the Peepal tree.
Prohibited work and discipline in Pitru Paksha
There is a clear instruction in the scriptures that no auspicious work like marriage, housewarming, starting a shop, or new business should be done during Pitru Paksha. It is necessary to follow celibacy and keep your conduct satvik these days. Lying, using abusive language, cheating, or hurting someone can displease the ancestors.

It is also said that the blessings of ancestors are the biggest wealth. Therefore, these 15 days of Pitru Paksha should be lived with restraint, devotion, and service. When we perform Tarpan and Shradh of ancestors with a full heart, not only do their souls get peace, but the shadow of happiness, peace, and prosperity also remains on the family.
