Catholic Gymkhana are going from strength to strength. In what was a tour de force, Catholic Gymkhana registered a thumping 6-1 win over CFCI Miners SC in their last play-off match of the Mumbai Football Association First Division Championship 2024-2025.
With this emphatic win, Catholic Gymkhana stormed into the semi-finals, where they will take on Navnaghar FC. The gymkhana boys led 2-0 at the breather.
In the one-sided tie played at the Neville D'Souza Ground, Bandra, striker Grenville Murzello, making an appearance in the first eleven for the first time, came up with a brilliant hat-trick to prove right the faith reposed in him by the coaches Roy Fernandes and Julian D'Silva.

With the team a mere four minutes warm, Grenville notched the opener, signalling that the gymkhana boys meant business. He followed it up with goals in the 58th and 66th minutes to duly complete an elegant hat-trick. Mohit Chandiramani came up with the second goal in the 20th minute to enhance their lead.
Substitutes Amol Patil in the 74th minute and Reuben Fernandes scored a goal each in the 77th minutes, were the other ones on target for the rampant Gymkhana lads.
Sheshang Singh's goal at the end of full-time proved a scrap of consolation for the Miners.
