When Will Navi Mumbai Airport Be Operational?
While official announcements are still awaited, multiple news reports suggest that the airport’s grand inauguration is likely to take place on September 17, 2025, coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. Earlier, there were speculations of an August 15 launch, but technical hurdles in the terminal and taxiway work, along with the monsoon season, led to delays.
Features Of Navi Mumbai International Airport
Developed across 1,160 hectares in Ulwe, near Panvel, NMIA is designed to significantly decongest the existing Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) and provide a modern aviation alternative for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). Inspired by the shape of a lotus flower, the airport boasts a stunning architectural design, featuring three interconnected terminals, two parallel runways and cutting-edge passenger amenities.

Over 13,000 workers are currently deployed on-site to meet the project timeline. Reports suggest that the Adani Group and the central government are keen on launching both domestic and international operations simultaneously.
