Panvel: A joint tree plantation drive was recently organized at the Amardham crematorium premises by the Panvel Municipal Corporation's Garden Department, in collaboration with Lions Club of Panvel, Lions Club of Sargam, and Leo Club of Kalsekar Technical Campus.
The initiative is part of an ongoing environmental conservation campaign led by the civic body. The campaign also includes free distribution of saplings to citizens.

As part of the drive, 45 indigenous tree species such as Bahava, Karanj, Kadamba, and Kanchan were planted to spread awareness about environmental protection and sustainability.
The event saw active participation from community leaders and Lions Club members including Premendra Bahira (President, Lions Club of Sargam), Surabhi Pendse (President, Lions Club of Panvel), Murtuza Afsar (District Environment Chairman), Ashok Gilda, Nandkishor Dhotre, Nutan Dhotre, Mangala Thakur, Pratima Chauhan, Sanjay Godse, Alkesh Shah, Swati Godse, Dhaval Shah, Anil Parmar, and Mahendra Lohar.

Garden Supervisors Siddharth Kamble, Ashok Mune, Assistant Supervisors Kiran Gaikwad and Gajalakshmi Ambe also played a vital role in its successful execution.
