Pithampur (Madhya Pradesh): A special conference of Pithampur Municipal Council was held on Wednesday, chaired by Sewanti Suresh Patel.
During the meeting, it was discussed that factories in Pithampur had previously paid around ?15-17 crores annually to the municipal council as property tax, but now, factories pay property tax to the MP Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) instead of the municipal council.
The Pithampur Municipal Council has demanded that the state government to provide compensation to the council due to the loss of property tax revenue from factories.
A delegation of council members, led by the chairperson, will meet the Chief Minister in Bhopal to discuss this issue.
Pithampur Nagar Palika CMO Nishikant Shukla said that for this purpose, a letter will be submitted by the Nagar Palika in the special meeting of the council demanding compensation from the government to compensate for the loss of revenue received from the factories so that the Nagar Palika can continue to work for the basic facilities of the citizens of Pithampur residential area.
If Pithampur Municipality does not receive property tax from the factories, the government should give financial assistance as compensation.
