Chhatarpur (Madhya Pradesh): A team of the forest department seized a truck loaded with logs of wood in the Jatkora village under the Jatara forest circle of the district late Tuesday night, official sources said.
Jatara forest circle officer Shishupal Ahirwar got a tip-off that a truck was carrying logs of wood. Ahirwar set up a team. Its members found the truck carrying logs of wood generally used for making furniture.
The team members sought the forest department’s permission for carrying wood from truck driver Pappu Yadav. But the driver failed to show any documents.
The team seized the logs of wood and the truck.
3 cops suspended for taking bribe, beating up complainant
Maharajpur police station in charge, Prashant Sen, and two constables have been suspended for beating up a complainant and taking a bribe of Rs 80,000 from him. Superintendent of Police Agam Jain asked the sub-divisional officer of the Khajuraho police to investigate the case.
The complainant said he had gone to the police station to lodge a complaint. But Sen and two constables, instead of listening to his complaint, beat him up.
The policemen released him after he paid Rs 80,000.
Jain said there was a complaint against Sen and two constables. He suspended the trio after an investigation into the complaint.
