Nottingham Forest are looking to bring Jordan Henderson back to the Premier League and the Ajax star can leave the Dutch giants this summer for nothing due to a clause that exists in his contract.
Nuno Espirito Santo's side have just secured a spot in Europe and are looking to bolster their ranks ahead of the new season. Henderson, now 35, has huge amounts of winning experience and won the Champions League with Liverpool six years ago.
Now at Ajax, after a short underwhelming stint in Saudi Arabia, the England midfielder has a rare clause in his deal which he can trigger to become a free agent before mid-July - allowing him to leave the Dutch club for nothing.
Henderson played 45 times for Ajax last season as Francesco Farioli’s men missed out on winning the Dutch title after a poor end to the campaign - and now the side from Nottingham as well as French giants Marseille are both keen.
The veteran midfielder remains a trusted part of Thomas Tuchel’s England squad, having been dropped in the latter part of Gareth Southgate's tenure, and wants to play in next summer’s World Cup. Operating in the Premier League could aid his cause.

However Ajax are likely to be in title contention again and will have the chance to play in Europe. It leaves Henderson with a decision to make on whether to remain in Amsterdam or pursue a new challenge elsewhere, potentially at the City Ground, reports the Daily Mail.
The ex-Liverpool man moved to Anfield after coming through the ranks at impressing with Sunderland. Despite initially struggling at Liverpool he would go on to become a commanding presence, captaining the team to their first ever Premier League success back in 2020.
His decision to quit the Reds and take up a lucrative deal in Saudi Arabia copped major criticism. He ultimately failed to adapt and cut short his stay before joining Ajax. Tuchel has made it clear that he sees a number of qualities in Henderson after reigniting his international career.
The German said on his selection: "He embodies everything. He is a serial winner, his personality and character. He is the glue in every team that he has played, the glue that makes things special. I am convinced. If a teacher in a school is convinced about the quality of the class, the character of the class, it is better than the other way around."
