Manchester United have paid an emotional tribute to Liverpool forward Diogo Jota after the Reds star tragically died in a car crash aged just 28. Portugal international Jota and his brother Andre, 26, were both killed in the incident in Spain.
The duo were travelling near the city of Zamora close to the Portuguese border when a tyre on their Lamborghini blew out while overtaking another vehicle. The car burst into flames and both men lost their lives.
Jota was beginning his journey back to Liverpool via Santander for pre-season having been advised to travel by ferry rather than plane due to a recent lung surgery.

United enjoy a storied rivalry with Liverpool and paid their own tributes to Jota on their website.
"Manchester United’s deepest condolences are with the loved ones of Diogo Jota and his brother, Andre, and everyone connected with Liverpool FC following Thursday’s heartbreaking news," they posted.
United skipper Bruno Fernandes, an international teammate of Jota, added: "Friend, colleague, and companion in a thousand battles. It’s hard to understand how it’s possible for someone to leave so soon.
“May you and your brother find the peace you need to look after those who lost you so suddenly and so soon. My condolences to all your family.”
Fellow Portugal star Diogo Dalot said: "Devastating... speechless... much strength to the family."

United legend Cristiano Ronaldo also paid tribute to his international teammate. "It doesn't make sense. Just now we were together in the National Team, just now you had gotten married," he posted.
“To your family, your wife, and your children, I send my condolences and wish them all the strength in the world. I know you will always be with them. Rest in Peace, Diogo and André. We will all miss you.”
Other United stars including Harry Maguire and Mason Mount also paid tribute. Maguire said: "So sad. RIP. Heartbreaking.”
