Taylor Swift fans are convinced her new album track Actually Romantic has reignited her feud with Charli XCX with a series of thinly-veiled digs.
The lyrics to the Life of a Showgirl song have been read as a savage takedown of the Party 4 U singer. Relations between the pair are said to have been sour after Taylor dated Matty Healy - the bandmate of Charli's now husband George Daniel.
Charli joked on her last album that she hated seeing Taylor backstage at gigs and secretly wanted her and Matty to break-up.

In the opening verse of Actually Romantic, Taylor appears to respond by singing: "I heard you call me 'Boring Barbie' when the coke's got you brave/High-fived my ex and then said you're glad he ghosted me/Wrote a song saying it makes you sick to see my face."
In the chorus, she then sings how it was "actually romantic" how often the subject of the song talks about her and wonders "How many times has your boyfriend said/'Why are we always talking about her?'"
Fans have looked to Charli as she also has a song with a similar title 'Everything is Romantic.' While Charli also appeared to kick-start a beef with her fellow musician in her song Sympathy is a Knife.
On the brat song, Charli sang about someone she has to compete with and many thought it was Taylor after a particular verse: "Don't wanna see her backstage at my boyfriend's show/Fingers crossed behind my back, I hope they break up quick." Fans noted that Taylor dated the 1975's lead singer Matty Healy while Charli was in a relationship with the band's George Daniel.

As such, the opening lyrics to Taylor's song seem to be directly calling Charli out for the feelings she shared on Sympathy is a Knife. The feud between the artists dates back to 2019.
For five years before, the pair seemed to be friends, with Charli opening for Taylor on her Reputation tour, but in August of 2019, Charli said in a interview that Taylor's fans were like "five-year-olds".
"As an artist, it kind of felt like I was getting up onstage and waving to five-year-olds," she said. Charli added that she never wanted to be an opening act again. "I've done so much of it, and it really cemented my status as this underdog character, which I like now. But I need to just own my own f***ing s*** finally.”
She later said on X that the quotes were taken out of context and clarified she was "extremely grateful" to Taylor for giving her an opportunity and the feud seemed to die down, until May 2024.
That was when the music video for Charli's song 360 came out. It stared Gabbriette Bechtel, who Matty Healy started to date after he "ghosted" Taylor. Charli reposted a meme about the music video that said, "Its the bad blood music video but for girls that do coke", referencing Taylor's infamously starstudded music video. Some fans thought this was a dig at the Blank Space singer.
Rumours of a feud intensified after Sympathy is a Knife is released. Neither singer has confirmed their songs are digs at each other yet.
