Tommy Fleetwood once demonstrated his character by making time in his hectic diary to caddie for his stepson. The Southport star is enjoying the spotlight after finally triumphing on the PGA Tour for the first time, securing one of golf's most prestigious trophies beyond the majors.
Following numerous close calls, Fleetwood kept his composure to claim the Tour Championship alongside the FedEx Cup, netting him a £7.4million windfall. The 34-year-old was already a popular figure, with supporters cheering him on at East Lake and sports stars, including LeBron James and Caitlin Clark, among those offering praise on social media.
Fleetwood, who has triumphed seven times on the Europe-based DP World Tour, credits much of his achievements to his support system, which features his wife and manager Clare, who is 23 years his senior. Fleetwood also enjoys a close relationship with Clare's son from her previous marriage, Oscar Craig, who had his stepfather carry his clubs for the UAE Challenge in Abu Dhabi in April last year.

Competing as an amateur, Oscar managed a creditable 60th place finish. Later that year, before the Scottish Challenge, he discussed having Fleetwood as his caddie. He said: "It's very different conditions-wise to Abu Dhabi, but I feel like I'm preparing well.
"I remember very well everything that he [Fleetwood] was going through with me when he was on the bag, even just little things like reading the slopes on the green and from the fairway. I remember those things he did and am trying to put them into my game."
While Clare, who shares young son Frankie with Fleetwood, wasn't in attendance, Oscar, 18, was present to witness the pinnacle of his stepfather's career to date.
Fleetwood has previously expressed his affection for their bond and the relationship he enjoys with his other stepson, Murray. During an appearance on the Fore Play podcast last year, Fleetwood said: "I think the whole family, we are unbelievably close.
"There's Oscar and Mo [Murray], they are the two older ones, and then there is Frankie. It's funny because when people ask, 'Do you have kids,' pretty much all the time, I say, 'Yeah, three kids.'
"And they go, 'How old are they?' [I say] '17 and 16 and six.' And then you get the look. So obviously then I have to explain. The first two are stepkids, who I don't think as stepkids. I have been around a long time now, particularly [with] Mo.
"I have been a parental figure to Mo since he was five. The relationship that we have, we are so close. When the five of us are together, it's always our safe space."
Following his triumph at East Lake, an elated and relieved Fleetwood said: "I was a bit erratic today at times and I was really proud of how I found my swing again on the 11th or 12th hole.

"I changed my routine a little bit, but still when you've lost it so many times, a three-shot lead down the last doesn't feel like that many. I am just so happy I got it done, happy with my work ethic and I'll continue to try and get better to be the best I can be."
When asked about his fan base, Fleetwood responded: "Yeah, they're amazing and it makes me a bit emotional. Always so lucky with the support I get.
"I said this last month or so, the buzz around me when I've been in contention has been amazing. To get the support like that, it is just so special and I never want to lose that.
"I hope everyone knows how grateful I am for it. I said we'll do it together and I felt like we did. I am really happy for me and everyone who has supported me through this."
