Worst Oil For Cooking: The oil you are using for cooking can cause serious diseases like cancer, diabetes, heart disease. Here you can know from a cardiologist what kind of oil should be used for cooking.

From early morning snacks to evening salad dressings, oil is used for cooking in every household. Oils are beneficial for the body. But the right quantity and the right type are important. Oils not only enhance the taste of food, but also have a profound effect on your health, especially heart health.

Cardiologist and functional medicine expert Dr. Alok Chopra recently explained in his Instagram post that some oils used daily can harm the heart, even if they are called heart-healthy.

Is your cooking oil a danger to your heart?

Dr. Chopra explains that oils made from seeds like sunflower, soy, canola and corn oil are not actually natural food items. These oils are made in factories using high heat, chemicals and heavy pressure. In this process, the oil gets oxidized, which spoils its structure, and it can be harmful to our body.

How does oxidized oil cause harm?

According to Dr Chopra, oxidised oils create free radicals, which increase inflammation in the body and are linked to serious problems like heart disease, obesity, cancer. These oils are high in omega-6 fatty acids, especially linoleic acid. Its excess disturbs the balance of omega-3 and omega-6 in the body, increasing the risk of diseases like inflammation, bad cholesterol and diabetes.

Oil can also alter DNA

Dr. Chopra explains that in restaurants, oil is reused over and over again, which makes it toxic. In such a situation, when the same oil is heated several times, toxic aldehydes and chemicals are formed in it which can even affect DNA and increase inflammation in the body.

What is the safe option?

Dr Chopra suggests using cold-pressed or low-processed oils like coconut oil, mustard oil, ghee or olive oil. Also, maintain the right balance of omega-6 and omega-3 in your diet to protect heart health in the long term.
