Rahul Gandhi's statement comes a day after Trump claimed that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had personally assured him that his country would stop buying Russian oil.

The first reason, he wrote, was that Trump was allowed to make the decision and announce that India would not buy Russian oil. The second reason, he wrote, was that despite repeated neglect, he continued to send congratulatory messages.
Rahul Gandhi's third reason was the cancellation of the Finance Minister's US trip. His fourth reason was that PM Modi did not attend Sharm el-Sheikh. His fifth reason was that he did not oppose Operation Sindoor.

Trump made the Russian oil announcement

However, the Indian government has not confirmed this claim. Trump said there would be no oil. They are not buying oil. He said this change would not happen immediately, but "over time." The Indian Embassy in Washington has not yet responded to a request for comment.
