UK News: A doctor of Pakistani origin in Britain has confessed to leaving a patient in the middle of surgery and having sex with a nurse in the operation theatre. 44-year-old Dr Suhail Anjum was working at Tameside General Hospital in Greater Manchester.

This case is from Greater Manchester, where a medical tribunal was told that 44-year-old Dr. Suhail Anjum left the patient midway during surgery. He had five operations on duty that day. But, during the third operation, he took a break to rest and handed over the responsibility of the surgery to another nurse. After this, he went to another operation room where he had sex with a colleague (named Nurse C).
The doctor confessed his crime
A scrub nurse told the tribunal that when she went to the operation theatre to get equipment, she saw the doctor and the nurse in an objectionable position. According to the report, Dr Suhail Anjum was adjusting his pants and Nurse C's pants had slipped down to her knees and her underwear was visible. The incident was immediately reported. During interrogation, Dr Suhail Anjum confessed that he had sex with the nurse while the patient was lying unconscious on the operation table.
'It was a shocking incident'
During the hearing, Dr Suhail Anjum said that he is 'very passionate' about his work, but he also said that he was very upset at the time when this incident happened. Because his wife was going through mental trauma. The doctor told the tribunal, 'This was a shocking incident. I cannot express how shameful this is for me. I am really sorry and ashamed and fully understand the seriousness of my behavior.' Anjum left the NHS Trust in 2024 and has now returned to Pakistan.
