BBC Strictly Come Dancing viewers make complaint about launch show 'boring' feature

Strictly Come Dancing viewers all had one huge complaint as the show returned for a brand news series on Saturday evening (September 20). Hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman returned to our TV screens as they welcomed 15 new celebrities to the famous ballroom. The glittering show began with a spectacular start as the entire Strictly cast took to the dance floor for an epic opening performance. Two new professionals Alexis Warr and Julian Caillon also made their debut as Jessie J provided the soundtrack. Strictly champions Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell also made a comeback for one final dance together after claiming the famous Glitterball trophy last year, reports Wales Online.

However, before the grand performance, Chris and Dianne featured in a comedic sketch where last year's celebrity winner refused to surrender his trophy. Claudia and Tess were thrown into a frenzy as they attempted to persuade Chris, with Dianne also trying to entice the star out of his dressing room using memorabilia from their previous Strictly routines.

Despite the lighthearted nature, Strictly fans were not amused with the hold-up in getting the ballroom spectacle underway although many "adored" seeing Chris back on television screens.

Taking to X, one person wrote: "These "comedy" sketches just aren't funny. It's a Dancing Competition. Get on with the Dancing!".

A second exclaimed: "Get on with it. #StrictlyComeDancing #strictly", while a third chimed in: "These VT's get worse every year but I adore Chris so it's fine #Strictly."

"Not ready for 3 months of unfunny skits #Strictly", one viewer commented, while another added: "Awwe Chris and Dianne #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing."

A fourth exclaimed;"I'm feeling actual physical pain from the desperately unfunny opening to #Strictly."

A fifth viewer felt the whole thing was a waste of time writing: "If they cut out the comedy sketch and the launch of the two new pros you could've actually had a couple of dances by now."

meanwhile a sixth shared: "Well, that was a corny opening for the new series but great to see Chris McCausland again. #StrictlyComeDancing."

Chris and Dianne also returned to the dancefloor later in the show to perform their BAFTA winning waltz.
