Cam Norrie has insisted Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz are not unbeatable before the Big Two bid to extend their Grand Slam domination at the US Open - and does not think the pair will meet in the final. The Italian and the Spaniard have won the last seven Major titles since Novak Djokovic claimed the 2023 title in New York.
And the duo have clashed in the final of the last four tournaments they have both entered since Sinner returned from a doping ban, including at Roland Garros and Wimbledon. But British No.3 Norrie, who lost to Alcaraz in the Wimbledon quarter-finals, said: "It will be interesting to see.
"They have played a lot of tennis over the summer. With Roland Garros, Wimby. They've both done well in the last few tournaments. I think there's a lot of depth in the men's game.
"Definitely it looks on the results and the way they're hitting the ball, the way they're getting through the draw, it looks like they're clear favourites. But I wouldn't be so sure that they're going to be meeting in the final. I don't see why they can't be beaten.
"They're definitely ahead, but I would not be surprised to see someone beat them." Norrie, who turned 30 on Saturday prepared for the US Open playing beach volleyball back at his old stomping ground at the Texas Christian University.
He faces a tough first round match against American Seb Korda, who has a 3-1 winning record against him. But Norrie trailed Daniil Medvedev 0-4 before beating the Russian in the French Open opening round. "It's nice to go and be the underdog for sure," he said.
Djokovic has admitted he has had "initial talks" to appoint a new coach with Serbian media claiming he wants Monica Seles.
The 24-time Grand Slam champion, who has not played a competitive match since Wimbledon, said: "I can't tell you anything. I was shaking things up a bit, talking, we'll see. There are some initial talks, it's more of an emotional aspect than a long-term collaboration. It would mean a lot to me. You'll be informed."
