Moment grooming gang survivor demands Jess Phillips resign live on TalkTV

Grooming gang survivor Ellie Reynolds has demanded Jess Phillips and Sadiq Khan resign from their positions in the Labour government after four survivors stepped down from the inquiry into the scandal. Fiona Goddard and a survivor using the pseudonym Elizabeth, along with Ellie, have taken the decision to step back from the panel in protest. According to GB News, Jessica - also not her real name - has now stepped back.

Ellie shared her views with Kevin O'Sullivan on TalkTV, accusing London mayor Sadiq Khan of "sweeping cases under the rug". She said: "I feel like the likes of Sadiq Khan, Jess Phillips etcetera all need to do the right thing and step down at this point. Everybody knows it's going on in London, I don't understand why he's even tried to lie and cover it up. It's a major city - you find that many grooming gangs own properties and takeaways and trafficking properties in London.

"London's known for it. I don't even understand how he's even been able to publicly express his lies and believe his own lies. At this point it's actually more concerning that they're sat believing the rubbish they're spouting."

Kevin questioned her: "So you think that Jess Phillips and her actions today and leading up to today, as Fiona said she should step down, you think she should also step down as safeguarding minister?"

Ellie replied: "I think she should step down and do something useful like educate herself on grooming gangs and on what that actually entails.

"I feel like the government and social services and police officers have all underestimated the power of the survivors again. The quicker they learn that we're united and we're going to stand for what's right... "

She said Phillips' speech in Commons was "appalling" and "disgusting to watch".
