If you're a fan of 'dark and gritty' crime thrillers, you're in luck, as Netflix has one you might want to add to your watch-list. This will save you endlessly scrolling the streaming service in the hunt for your next obsession.
Movies and TV reviewer Luke Eccleston, known as @eccyreviews online, recommended streaming fans add Black Rabbit to their lists, if they haven't watched it already. Taking to TikTok just after it was released on Netflix, the reviewer explained: "It's a dark, gritty crime thriller. The show is called Black Rabbit.
"All eight episodes have been released and this is a limited series, so it's one and done and stars Jason Bateman and Jude Law, who are both amazing in this show."
Explaining the plot, he continued: "It basically follows Jude Law [as Jake Friedken] who owns this restaurant called The Black Rabbit and his brother who he used to work with, who is a complete mess [and] returns back and just totally disrupts his life."
Speaking about the mood of the show, which was first released in September and created by Zach Baylin and Kate Susman, he said: "In parts this can be a little bit bleak but I do really like the story. The last two episodes it has a massive climax which I absolutely loved. It reminded me of the show The Bear and the film Uncut Gems. So definitely go ahead and get this show on your watch-list."
Netflix explains about the plot: "Set against the backdrop of New York City's high-pressure nightlife scene, Black Rabbit centers around two brothers who learn just how far family, and the pursuit of success, can push them to the edge. Jake Friedken (Jude Law) is the charismatic owner of Black Rabbit, a restaurant and VIP lounge, poised to become the hottest spot in New York.
"But when his brother, Vince (Jason Bateman), returns to the business unexpectedly, trouble soon follows; opening the door to old traumas and new dangers that threaten to bring down everything they've built.
"Black Rabbit is a propulsive thrill ride and character examination about the way an unbreakable bond between two brothers can shatter their world and everything in its orbit."
In the comment section of Luke's video, many people agreed about how fantastic the show is. "This was absolute quality," said one person. Another streaming fan wrote: "It's great. A must-view. Great ending too." And a third wrote: "I have started watching it today I really enjoy it so far."
