PATNA: Union home minister Amit Shah tore into RJD and Congress, saying if Lalu Prasad's son Tejashwi Yadav becomes CM, Bihar would get "three new ministries - kidnapping, extortion, and one promoting kidnapping and murder". Only an NDA govt could make Bihar flood-free and safe, he said on Sunday.
"If you form a govt under Nitish Kumar and PM Narendra Modi's leadership, a ministry will be created for a flood-free Bihar," Shah said.
Speaking at election rallies in Muzaffarpur and Vaishali, Shah accused Lalu and former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi of dynastic politics, saying: "One wants to make her son the PM, and the other wants to make his son CM. But there's no vacancy - Modi is PM and Nitish is CM." Tejashwi is the CM face of INDIA bloc.
Shah said the assembly polls were not just about choosing MLAs but about preventing the return of jungle raj. "During Lalu-Rabri's 15-year term, even the Gopalganj DM was beaten to death. Bihar, once a stronghold of criminals, is today touching new heights of development under the NDA govt," he said.
Shah alleged RJD-Congress functionaries were responsible for scams worth Rs 12 lakh crore. "Lalu and Co, and Rahul and Co have looted the country. Only NDA can keep Bihar united, safe and prosperous," he said, cautioning that "Lalu-Rabri's jungle raj is trying to return by merely changing faces and attire".
Promising a "flood-free Bihar," Shah said Modi had approved plans to channel water from the Kosi, Ganga and Gandak rivers to farmlands. Linking faith and development, he added that once the Rs 850 crore Sita Mata temple in Sitamarhi was complete, govt would connect Ayodhya and Sitamarhi via Vande Bharat .
Listing Modi's record, Shah said NDA abrogated Article 370 and launched Operation Sindoor to avenge the Pahalgam attack, eliminating terrorist installations in Pakistan. "During UPA govt, terrorists were fed biryani. Under NDA, their headquarters were blown up," he said.
Appealing to women, Shah said NDA was giving Rs 10,000 each to help them become self-employed. "No one has the power to stop the money meant for women," he said. The home minister highlighted Modi's 33% reservation for women in Parliament and Nitish Kumar's 50% quota in panchayats, saying that together they had "freed women from smoky stoves and jungle raj alike".
