13-year-old arrested with 23 guns at Washington home: Police found disturbing writings on 'mass shooting scenarios' - chilling details

A 13-year-old boy in Washington state has been arrested after authorities discovered an arsenal of firearms and disturbing writings that outlined “mass shooting scenarios” inside his home, police said.

The Pierce county sheriff’s office told ABC News that it received a tip on Friday that the boy had “school shooter ideations,” had made threats to kill, and claimed access to weapons. Deputies searched his home early Saturday morning and uncovered 23 firearms, many apparently homemade long guns built with 3D-printed parts, along with loaded magazines inscribed with references to infamous massacres, including Columbine.

Court documents allege the teenager “idolised previous mass shooters” and had posted photos of himself holding guns on social media since June, paired with messages expressing fascination with recent mass casualty attacks such as the 2022 Uvalde, Texas, school shooting.

According to ABC News, authorities also seized writings, clothing linked to his alleged plans, and materials for fireworks and explosives.

The boy has been charged with attempted threat to bomb or injure a school, unlawful possession of a firearm, and unlawful possession of fireworks. He is due in court on Monday. His parents have not been charged.

Deputy Carly Cappetto of the sheriff’s office described the cache as “a large quantity” of both secured and unsecured weapons, noting that the findings painted a textbook picture of “school shooter planning.”

The teen is not currently enrolled in any school district, but previously attended the Franklin Pierce School District until 2021. In a statement, the district said it was working with law enforcement to ensure community safety: “We continue to work with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office to ensure that this individual is not a threat to our schools or our community as a whole.”
