Madikeri: All tribal families living in line houses, including plantation workers, must be issued Aadhaar cards, said District In-charge Secretary Dr. N. V. Prasad. He also directed officials to ensure that government welfare schemes and benefits reach these communities without delay.
Chairing a meeting of officials from various departments—including the Departments of Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare, Social Welfare, ITDP, and Skill Development—in Madikeri, Dr. Prasad reviewed the status of welfare schemes and urged expedited implementation.
He stressed the need for timely progress in housing projects under Basava, Ambedkar, and Indira Awas Yojanas. He also insisted that the District Road Safety Committee meetings be held regularly every month. Dr. Prasad instructed officials to urgently coordinate with the Tribal Welfare Department to speed up Aadhaar enrolment for tribal populations.
During the meeting, District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr. Satish Kumar informed that there are 2 vacancies in Primary Health Centres, 16 in Community Health Centres, and 12 in general medical posts, but no applications have been received so far.
Dr. Prasad also reviewed progress on key infrastructure projects, including the bus stand construction at Saturday Santhe and the bus depot work in Kushalnagar.
