Uppinangady: A man from Nekkilady, identified as Mohammed Zubair, has gone missing in Rajasthan after travelling there with friends to purchase goats for the upcoming Bakrid festival, leaving his family in deep distress.

Speaking to the media, Zubair’s father, Ibrahim, explained that his son and a friend had travelled to Rajasthan last Monday to procure goats. The initial agreement with the sellers was to pay Rs 2 lakh for lorry transportation and to settle the remaining amount upon delivery of the goats in Karnataka.

However, after reaching Rajasthan, the local sellers allegedly demanded Rs10 lakh in advance and refused to release the goats until the payment was made. Zubair informed his family of the situation over the phone, following which the amount was transferred to his bank account.

He later told his family that the goats had been loaded into the lorry and shared a photo as confirmation. But soon afterward, Zubair made another call stating that the sellers were demanding an additional Rs 20 lakh and threatening to detain him if the payment was not made by that afternoon. After this, his phone was switched off, and there has been no communication since.

The family contacted the Rajasthan Police control room using a number provided by local police. Authorities there reportedly traced Zubair and his companions and brought them to a police station. However, the family has still not heard directly from Zubair, and subsequent attempts to seek clarity from police have not yielded satisfactory responses.

Zubair’s father has appealed to elected representatives to intervene urgently, expressing grave concern over his son’s safety and wellbeing. The family remains anxious and is hoping for immediate action from the authorities.
